Ray HERRING an assistant in the office of the State Teacher's College whose home is in Canada, committed suicide last night in his room at the home of J. D. Porter, 814 Twelfth St. The motive is unknown. Coroner Church is investigating.

When HERRING did not arrive at the office this morning at the appointed time an investigation followed. Mrs. Potter found him dead on the bed.

Suicide Possibly Caused by Old Love Affair.
Death of Ray HERRING Still Unexplained.
Despondency over unrequited affection advance as only reason.

That despondency over a love affair was the chief motive which prompted Ray HERRING, 25 years old, to commit suicide Wednesday night by shooting himself with a revolver in the right temple, in his room at the J. D. Porter home 814 Twelfth St., is the belief of those who had been thrown in contact with him. A note was left by HERRING, which said that he was tired of this world and was going to leave it. He requested that he be buried in Greeley.

Wednesday night HERRING had come in about 10 o'clock and spent several minutes talking to roomer David Parker. At the time he seemed cheerful and joked with Parker. About midnight, Parker said that he heard a shot but thought that it came from outside and did not pay any attention to it.

His brother, Reginald HERRING, of Gill, was notified and came to Greeley yesterday afternoon. He could give no reason for his brother's rash act.

The body is being held at the Macy for his parents at Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island, Canada. An uncle, Dr. D. D. HUGH, of the college, who is in Orlando, California was also notified.
