Notes |
- "The mother was a woman of strong character and of a fortitude and personal strength which the upbringing of eleven children amid pioneer conditions rendered so essential; she was of a cheerful nature and a strong believer in Canada and its future....... after the death of her husband she was urged by her friends in Devon to return to her old home but refused to do so and, with never-failing confidence, encouraged her boys and maintained her place in the new community. Long years after, she died at Walkerton in her 93rd year." (Hopkins) [8]
