The funeral of Mr. William BEST, of Woodville, Mannamead, Plymouth, took place yesterday. A service at Emmanuel Church, Compton, by Rev. R. Carnegie Knox, preceded the interment at Efford Cemetery. The mourners were the widow (Mrs. BEST), Mr. C. BEST (son), Mr. J. BEST and Mrs BEST (brother and daughter in law), Mr. HAMPSHIRE, Mrs. PENWARNE, Mr. SELLICK, Mr. BUSHNELL, and Mr. ALEXANDER.
Also present were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. WHEELER, Miss H. H. LILLICRAP, Mr. C. E. LILLICRAP, Mr. A. E. MARSHALL, Mr. J. BORROW, Mr. P. H. SMITH, Mr. W. Aubry FOX, Mr. and Mrs A. E. SPARROW and Mr. G. CALLICOTT.

- They were still living at the Old Four Castles Inn in late summer of 1893. Judith appeared as "Judith BEST, landlady of the Old Four Castles Inn, Old Town-street", in the case of William Hick charged for violently assaulting his wife, Elizabeth, at that inn. Judith stated that the defendant and his wife, once rented a room at her house. The article describing the hearing, and titled, "The Assault Upon a Wife At Plymouth" was published in the Western Morning News, 29 August 1893.
