Notes |
- Thomas was the son of Henry WATSON, Justice of the Peace and Solicitor, and Mary PEIRSON who married in 1866.(FreeBMD) Thomas can be found in 1891 census in Coatham, Yorkshire, living with his parents and eight siblings. His father died in 1897 at age 62.
A Thomas WATSON, age 21, labourer, born England, and travelling to Toronto, was recorded on a passenger list for the S. S. Tunisian which arrived on 2 November 1901 in Montreal, Quebec. The 1901 census in England shows his mother was widowed; Thomas was not at home. He has yet to found in that census most likely because he was serving in the military, possibly being in South Africa.
Family history has it that he spent some time employed at the E. D. Smith fruit farm in Stoney Creek, Hamilton, before moving on to Manitoba. [1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8]
