  	Matthew NESSWORTHY was interred on 18 February 1903, aged 86 yrs. He was interred in an unpurchased grave located on Section C; Grave No 2297 - there is a further burial in the grave but the person does not appear to be related. The burial register claims his occupation to be that of a Mariner, and that he died in Harton Workhouse. The grave is unmarked.

  	Thomas NOSWORTHY, of the parish of Staverton, and Grace PALK, both sojourners in this parish, were married in this church by Banns this second day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and eight, by me, Matthew Lowndes, Vicar. In the presence of (the mark of ) Agnes FOOT? and Robert WEBBER. Thomas signed; Grace made her mark. [Although Thomas' parents are not named on the marriage record, he is believed to be Thomas, son of William NOSWORTHY and Ann CLEAVE, from Widecombe in the Moor for the following reasons: (1) There is no baptism for a Thomas NOSWORTHY in Staverton in the appropriate time frame. The Staverton parish records demonstrate that there had been no Nosworthy baptisms/ marriages in that parish for many, many years. The children of Thomas and Grace after 1808 were the first. The marriage entry does imply that Thomas was, at least, living in Staverton at the time he married. (2) Widecombe in the Moor is only 8 miles from Staverton. (3) Thomas and Grace named their second child, Ambrose, who was born around 1811, and Thomas' own brother, Ambrose had just died at the age of 25 in 1810. (4) Thomas named his first son after his father; the rest of his sons were all given names of his siblings; his first daughter was given his mother-in-law's name; his secon daughter, his mother's name. (5) Widecome burial records include a burial of a Thomas NOSWORTHY, in Widecombe, 06 January, 1839, whose abode was Staverton, age 62; although a couple of years out, this is most likely Thomas who married Grace, and who originated in Widecombe in the Moor.
