Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside until 10 a.m. Monday then to Trinity United Church for funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visiting hours Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. If so desired memorials to the Prince County Hospital Equipment Fund would be appreciated.
Mrs Vivian JENKINS Dies at 80.
The death occured at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Friday, August 4, 1989 of Mrs Vivian Belle JENKINS in her 80th year. Born in Murray River, P.E.I., she was the daughter of John and Annie (CAMPBELL) BECK. She was a member of the Trinity United Church, Summerside and had been employed with the Summerside Manor, Summerside.
She is survived by five daughters, as well as by 25 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Catherine RYDER, Glenn Falls, New York; Hazel, Mrs. Gordon SULIS, Saint John, New Brunswick; Elsie, Mrs. Harry MACKAY, Murray River; two brothers, Hubert BECK of Murray River and Elwood BECK of Montague. She was predeceased by her husband, J. B. JENKINS, by four sisters, Mary, Olive, Constance, and Jennie, and one brother, Benjamin.
Vivian B. JENKINS
On Friday afternoon, August 4, 1989 after a long and trying illness, Vivian B. JENKINS passed peacefully away at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. Vivian was born at Murray River to the late John and Annie BECK on October 28, 1909 in a family of 11 children. Surviving are Catherine, Hubert, Hazel, Elwood and Elsie. Deceased are Mary, Olive, Benjamin, Constance and Jennie.
In 1926 Vivian married James B. JENKINS and she was widowed on December 13, 1965. They resided in Murray River until 1940 when they chose Summerside as their home. She was a caring and loving mother of eight children, five girls and three boys: She had 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
After being widowed, she worked at the Summerset Manor for eight years. Some of her hobbies were doing needle point, ceramics, cross county skiing, walking, travelling, working in her beautiful rose garden and she enjoyed having coffee with her friends at the Linkletter every morning. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered, especially for her thoughtful deeds and positive attitude toward life.
