- While no marriage has been located for Catherine Margaret MACHON to John ROBERTS, we do know that "Elizabeth ROBERTS, Anne ROBERTS, and John ROBERTS married three children of Thomas and Rachel MACHON: John T., Daniel, and Margaret MACHON". The author was not able to conclude whether or not the ROBERTS were all from one family. Lomas
Other factors which support their marriage:
(1) Their age difference is consistent in censuses and consistent with their birth years.
(2) The appearance of both names, Catherine and Margaret, in censuses.
(3) The place of birth, Guernsey, given in 1891 census for John's parents in spite of the belief that his mother originated in France which has yet to be proven.
(4) Naming of two children Hillary and Rachel, both reflecting grandparents of each side. (Anne Brooks)
