Married:
- METHODIST WEDDING
The wedding took place at the Victoria Methodist Church, Taunton, on Saturday, of Mr. Grenville John ROBERTS, of 7 Bowood-road, Obridge, Taunton, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack ROBERTS, of Newton Abbot, and Miss Madeline Mary Anita OWEN, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. OWEN, of 53 Wordsworth Drive, Taunton.
The service was conducted by the Rev. Vincent Bates and Miss Valerie Couch was the organist. Given away by her father, the bride wore an ankle-length gown of white net over taffeta with a veil held in place by a pearl and net coronet. She carried red carnations. The bridemaids, Miss Wendy JEFFEREYS (bride's cousin) and Miss Jaqueline Hannon (bride's friend), wore ankle length gowns of silver threaded net over pale green taffeta with muffs and headdresses to match. The bridegroom gave them gold crosses and chains. Mr. Raymond OWEN, bride's brother, was best man.
The reception at the Riverside Rooms was attended by about 50 guests, after which the couple left for a honeymoon in Margate. The bride's going-away outfit was a royal blue coat with natural coloured accessories. Published with photo in Somerset County Herald, Saturday, March 14, 1959. [2, 3]
