Born in Middle Sackville, Westmorland Co., N.B., he was a son of the late Roy A. and Maude R. (Hicks) BROOKS. He was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church and he served overseas with the Artillery during the Second World War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Correctional Services Canada in Dorchester, New Brunswick, and in Springhill. He was an avid gardener and he also enjoyed hunting and was an avid bowler. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Hilda M. HICKS; children, Eric J. BROOKS (Faye), Dartmouth; David E. BROOKS, at home; Brenda M. TOUPIN (Rick), Chignecto, Cumberland Co.; Victor H. BROOKS (Bette), Mississauga, Ontario; Joan C. ALLEN (Frank), Chignecto; Faye I. BROOKS, at home; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.]] He was predeceased by son, Alan R. BROOKS; brothers, Lorne, Maurice, Norman, Ora, Frank and Fred BROOKS; sisters, Eleanor and Ruth BROOKS. Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. A private graveside service will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, on Thursday, June 23, at 2 p.m., Rev. Perry Hanley officiating. Donations may be made to the G.O.V.R.C. Workshop, Springhill, Springhill Baptist Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford.
