    • In Memory of / Joiner 3rd Class ERNEST GEORGE FOURACRE / D/MX 52544, H.M.S. Adventure, Royal Navy / who died age 28 / on 13 November 1939 / Son of William Henry and Mary Margaret Fouracre, of Plymouth; / husband of Mary Fouracre, of St. Budeaux, Plymouth. / Remembered with honour / PLYMOUTH (WESTON MILL) CEMETERY.

      On 11 November 1939, The HMS Adventure was transferred to Portsmouth prior to minelaying operation off Dutch coast. She was escorted on passage by HM Destroyers BLANCHE and BASILISK. On the 13 November 1938, Detonated magnetic mine near Tongue Ligit Vessel. She sustained extensive damage and considerable flooding; 24 of ship's company killed or missing and 69 wounded. HMS BASILISK took off survivors. HMS BLANCHE was mined whilst standing by and later sank in tow.
