- George and Bess are buried in a small, unregistered cemetery which they apparently used to care for; it is located in the very north of Michigan. Their son Daniel's ashes are buried with them.
Their memorial stone is locationed in the same gated area as William and Elizabeth RICHARDS. Further research explains the connection: Elizabeth was the daughter of Richard EDDY and Nancy WILLIAMS, born 15 August 1823 at St. Ives, Cornwall. She married William RICHARDS at St. Ives, Cornwall in 1846. Their son, Thomas RICHARDS, born 1850, married Hannah May CRAZE on 12 June 1873 in Houghton, Michigan. Their daughter, Emma RICHARDS, married Edward CARTER on 5 August 1897 at Calumet, Michigan. George Thomas CARTER was born 28 October 1910 "son of Ed CARTER, born Wales, Engineer, and Emma RICHARDS, born Michigan". Therefore, William and Elizabeth RICHARDS were George CARTER's maternal great grandparents. (Research done at www.familysearch.org)
