    Notes
    • From the 1909 biography: "William George, as a young man left Canada for the United States and resided at several places, finally came to Florida, about the year 1880. Subsequently married Lillian DUPUY, settling himself permanently here at McIntosh, as an orange grower. They had a family of five sons and four daughters,William Morgan, the eldest, John Ralph and Walter (twins), Mary Ella, Lillian Edith, George Lionel, Henry Edward (died in infancy), Louise Gertrude, and Edna Dupuy. The eldest son, William M. died at the age of seventeen. The eldest daughter married Frank B. HESTER, and died within twelve months".

This Norsworthy biography was written by James C. NORSWORTHY in 1909 during the time when he visited his brother George in Florida. A second biography, was written by Joseph COOMBE, at the same time. Both were placed inside steps to George's home, poured by James. George C. NORSWORTHY states that his own father was about twenty-five and still single when the steps were formed and poured. He thinks that his father possessed the only copies of those two papers that were placed within those steps. He believes it was a minor miracle that those two papers poured into the concrete steps were copied and that they found themselves in his hands for safe keeping through his mother.

He remembers the steps were at the rear entrance to the house and quite wide, going to the long open porch joining the dining room to the detached kitchen and perhaps beyond to an entrance to the master bedroom of the house. He states, "It seems that the formal front entrance formed a hall going past a parlor and the dining room on through to the back porch mentioned above. As one came in the main entrance and the hall there was a formal staircase up, an entrance on the left to the master suite, an entrance immediately on the right to the small parlor and another entrance on the right to the large dining room which was the main family gathering room. As early as I can remember, there were plumbing and bathrooms, water coming from a large wooden tank on a tower in the rear yard, fed by an electric pump and well nearby." (George Counter Norsworthy)

Stanley NORSWORTHY wrote, "George went to Florida and became an orange grower in a small place called McIntosh, near Ocala, in the vicinity of the present Florida Disneyland. He used to come to Ingersoll sometimes in the summers, and Father and Mother made one winter visit to his place in Florida. He had, I think, three sons and two daughters." (Saga)

His grandson, George Counter NORSWORTHY also wrote, "Grandpa travelled from Canada to mid-Florida, met Lillian DUPUY and married her and acquired large acreage of land and grew oranges until the Florida freeze line moved south through the McIntosh area. He lost all of his orange trees and began growing vegetables before his death. His picture hangs in the old Florida East Coast Railway Depot museum with the caption announcing: William G. Norsworthy - Orange King of Marion County." [6, 7]
