- Mrs. Henry E. BREHAUT: In the later evening hours of Tuesday, August 8th., Mrs. Henry E. BREHAUT, a highly esteemed resident of White Sands passed peacefully away at the age of 76 years. The deceased had been in failing health for some weeks so that the coming of the end was not altogether unexpected. Although at times Mrs. BREHAUT had been very ill, yet being of a rugged constitution it was hoped that she might still rally and come back to her usually good condition of health, but such evidently was not to be. She continued to sink gradually until on the above mentioned date her gentle spirit winged its heavenward flight.
Her husband, Henry E. BREHAUT, passed away over a year ago. The deceased now leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother three daughters, namely; Mrs. Thomas E. FURNALD, Quincy, Mass., Mrs. William DARBY, White Sands, and Mrs. Milton HOWE, Guernsey Cove. The deceased was one of a family of six brothers and four sisters. The brothers were John BROOKS, Middle Sackville, N.B., Fred BROOKS, Peabody, Mass., Jas. H. BROOKS, and David BROOKS, Murray Harbour, and another brother William BROOKS who was drowned at Murray Harbour when a young man. The sisters were Mrs. J. WONNACOTT and Mrs. T. AITKEN, Charlottetown, Mrs. Hugh MACDONALD, Boston and (Mrs. Henry E. BREHAUT of White Sands.)
Mrs. Brehaut was a lady who was held in high esteem by all who had the privilege of knowing her and being of a somewhat retiring nature she took very little part in public activities. As a consequence only those who came to know her in her own house realized her true worth. To her house all worthy comers found a hearty welcome and she stood ever ready to help in every good cause. Her passing was one of sweet peace. The funeral which was held on Thursday, August 10th. was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. R. Hensley Stavert assisted by Rev. W. I. Green and was an impressive one throughout. The pallbearers were Messrs. Harry BREHAUT, Wm. BREHAUT, Joe BECK, Wm. DARBY, Earl NICOLLE, and Milton HOWE. Interment was in Murray Harbour Cemetery.
